I'm Beth Anderson, board member for the Friends of Hospice of SW Washington. Since I'm originally from New York, my buddy, Joey Yourchek, assumed I would be the perfect partner, since I am his presumed expert on all things Broadway. After working for seniors in my community back in Rensselaer County and for seniors here in my capacity as a member of both the Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities Advisory Council and the State Council on Aging, I know I can count on Sky (aka Joey), to protect my character Sarah Brown. In Guys & Dolls, Sarah is a compassionate missionary to the destitute of the streets, a reflection of the work done at Share. Sky eventually realizes that he does have a heart...just like so many of Share’s volunteers! Like Sarah, I’ll just stay away from "Cuban Milkshakes" and teach Sky to play the drum for the mission. We are a partnership to support!
I’m Joey Yourchek, Agency Administrator for Elfin Services, a locally owned In-Home Care and Care Management Agency. I have been working with the aging population for over 15+ years in my roles as a former certified professional guardian, board member for the Alzheimer’s Association – OR/SWWA Chapter, support group facilitator and volunteer, board member for Southwest Washington Elder Abuse Prevention Coalition, an advisory council member for HOPE A Dementia Support Group, and many other GREAT causes I LOVE to support, just like Share! Sarah (aka Beth), as the compassionate missionary she is, wants to show me the ropes and see all of the wonderful work accomplished by Share’s volunteers! I can’t help but wonder if it has ever occurred to Sarah that some people could be all repentance and no sin. Heck, I may even decide to start a chain of missions to help her kind… “Come all ye repenters and let us bring a little sin into your life!” For now, I am going to take her lead and check out these so-called drums for her mission to help Share! I mean, “is it wrong to gamble or only to lose?”
